You Belong With Me

The night after my (Justin’s) birthday, I planned a nice dinner for the two of us at Vic & Anthony’s for “my birthday”. After dinner we were walking through Discovery Green to go have a drink, and that is where I asked Kathryn to marry me. The weekend we started dating we had been at Discovery Green all weekend so this spot was very special to us. After she said “yes” we continued walking to Hearsay On The Green, where both of our families were waiting to celebrate with us.
We came across The Astorian and went to a Bridal Extravaganza the venue was hosting. When we walked in, we immediately fell in love with the elegant details and city view. The venue has naturally beautiful decor and lighting, and we knew it would pair well with the candlelight dinner and floral decor we’d been imagining. With the unique lighting, we knew we needed a photographer who could capture our special moments in clear and crisp photos. We searched wedding photographers online who had successfully captured other couple’s weddings at the venue, and Nate & Alex’s pictures stood out to us the most. For our ceremony, we looked at a few different churches based on size and location. When we walked into St. Paul’s we immediately were blown away by the stained glass, natural wood ceiling & traditional church feel.
The Big Day
Justin booked a suite at the Marriott Marquis Downtown, where him and his groomsmen got ready. Kathryn got ready at The Astorian’s Bridal Suite. We decided against a first look, so the first time we saw each other was when Kathryn started walking down the aisle. We were glad we waited until that moment, because our genuine happiness was captured in pictures and seen by all our family and friends. A few of our most memorable moments include: our first dance to Perfect by Ed Sheeran, sung by our band, Danny Ray & The Acoustic Production. Thankfully, we had Love Dance Houston to help us perfect our dance moves! Later in the night, our band surprised Kathryn with an impressive Taylor Swift mashup. Then, at the end of the night, Nate & Alex took us to a rooftop to capture breathtaking pictures with the city.
For our honeymoon, we visited Singapore and Thailand. We wanted to travel somewhere we had both never experienced, and was so far away that we may never have the opportunity to visit again. It was also important to us to enjoy both the city and a beach. In Singapore, we spoiled ourselves at the Marina Bay Sands Hotel. In Thailand, we stayed at a quiet resort, Casa De La Flora, tucked away on the coast of Khao Lak. After that trip, despite the distance, we definitely plan on going back.
