The Proposal
Katie and Wesley attended the same high school but never met. Fate intervened a few years later when the couple worked at the same company. Their coworker had the foresight to encourage Wesley to ask Katie out. The couple took the time to get to know each other, blossoming into their forever story. A few years later, Katie planned a surprise party for Wesley’s 31st birthday at the Knights baseball game. Little did she know that with the help of the Knights Mascot, Wesley planned a surprise for Katie. The staff took Katie to the dugout to surprise Wesley, but while the mascot Homer distracted Katie, Wesley got down on one knee and proposed. Twenty of their friends and family members watched
from the suite above and the evening of baseball turned into an engagement celebration.
In Preparation
Katie, being a gracious host, put all of her focus on her guests. She wanted her wedding to be more than just a celebration of her and Wesley, but a celebration for all those in attendance. The wedding had to be memorable and enjoyable, with pizza, southern food, games, and dancing as the main highlights. Every detail of the planning process was personally executed by Katie, with generous help from friends who pitched in with custom builds, painting, and organizing. The team effort and support that Katie and Wesley received made the wedding even more special. The color scheme for the wedding was inspired by the month of October, with the warm and spicy hues of orange and merlot.
The Big Day
Katie and Wesley’s marriage celebration was designed by unique and original touches. The guests delighted in the flower dudes’ ceremony performance, dined from a pizza food truck at cocktail hour, sat for a caricature artist, and more. The couple traded the bouquet toss for a custom t-shirt toss and entertained the guests during dinner with music bingo, resulting in a guest dance-off and much laughter. Of course, the guest of honor, Knights mascot Homer, made an appearance and joined the party on the dance floor. Sadly, Katie’s best friend Chelsea tragically passed away before the wedding. To honor her and include her spirit in the ceremony, Katie wore Chelsea’s veil as something borrowed. Katie had the most touching idea to include custom signage reserving seats in the ceremony for the loved ones that passed away. Katie reserved a seat for Chelsea next to her at the head table.
The Retreat
The couple plans to take a month-long honeymoon exploring Europe.
