The Proposal
We were supposed to be going down to Orange Beach that weekend for another couple’s engagement party. That morning, we were in Fairhope, and Trey suggested we take his lab, Lily, for a walk down by the water. We love to take Lily on walks and play with her so nothing seemed out of the ordinary. Lily came running back from the water and before I knew it, Trey was on one knee. I was so completely overjoyed and shocked that I didn’t even say “yes” – we still joke about this today. Trey’s sister was hiding in the park and got the sweetest picture of his proposal. We had it turned into a water color for our save the dates.
In Preparation
Trey and I had visited Pursell Farms a few months before we got engaged. I instantly knew that was where I wanted our wedding to be. We live in Birmingham, and it is just an hour away. The entire property is gorgeous and everyone that works there is so friendly and accommodating. Other than location, I had no specific plans in mind. I knew I wanted a classic, timeless wedding spent surrounded by our loved ones. I can’t say enough about our wedding vendors. They all went above and beyond to help Trey and I have THE most perfect day.
The Big Day
Our wedding was truly perfect. Our ceremony was outside and I had been worried sick about the weather all week. It ended up being a gorgeous spring day – it couldn’t have been better. I spent the morning getting ready with my bridesmaids, and I just remember thinking how wonderful it was to have all of my best friends together in one place. I did a first look with my dad and then with Trey – those were both really special moments I will remember forever. Our ceremony was on the lawn at Hamilton Place just before sunset. After the ceremony, we danced the night away. It was truly the happiest day of my life – filled with so much love for Trey, our family, and friends.
The Retreat
We left the next morning for a week long stay at Coco Bay Resort in Antigua. It was the perfect way to relax after all the wedding planning and celebrating. We had our own little bungalow overlooking the water. Most days we stayed on the beach or at our private pool. On our last night, we took a sunset sail around the island while drinking champagne. It was the best week and most perfect way to begin our life as Mr. and Mrs. Early.
