The Proposal
Mary and Rene were visiting one of their favorite places, Watercolor Florida, for the Thanksgiving holiday. On a beautiful day, the couple enjoyed a late lunch with Mary’s family on the rooftop of Bud and Alley’s restaurant. Before sunset, they made their way to the beach for family pictures. The photographer started with the entire family and then moved to smaller groups. When it was time for Mary and Rene’s pictures, Rene dropped onto one knee, to which Mary, so surprised, also fell to her knees! Following the proposal, the couple celebrated on the beach with champagne and then walked to the Watercolor beach club, where Mary’s extended family surprised them! Later, they all went back to Mary’s family home, where Rene’s family and the newly engaged couple’s friends were there to celebrate!
In Preparation
Mary and Rene had about 14 months to plan their dream wedding in the groom’s hometown of New Orleans. They hired Angle Events to ensure their wedding vision became a reality. The first priority was booking the perfect band. They had both seen and heard Party on the Moon play and knew they wanted them for their reception. Shortly after securing the band, Mary and Rene chose their ceremony and reception spaces at St. Patrick’s Church and the Ritz Carlton, respectively. The couple frequently met with the planner to book vendors and discuss décor, florals, food, and details.
The Big Day
Mary and Rene were overjoyed with the love they felt on their big day. The wedding day started with hair and make-up for the bride and bridesmaids. Mary had a blast spending the day with her closest friends and family, laughing and reminiscing about the previous night’s event and the other wedding festivities. While the ladies were getting ready, the groom and groomsmen gathered in the Ritz Carlton suite. The bride and groom met in City Park for a romantic first look, followed by family and wedding party pictures, and before they knew it, Mary was walking down the aisle to say ‘I do’ in the most beautiful and historic Catholic Church. After the couple exchanged vows and exited the church, a brass band led the newlyweds, bridal party, and family members in a ‘second line’. The reception began with a cocktail hour and electric violinists, followed by an incredible reception featuring an ice bar, sushi, fantastic food and cocktails, and dancing all through the night! The ‘gold man’ and ‘silver man’, famous in New Orleans, made a special appearance along with the Mardi Gras Indians, who led yet another ‘second line at the end of the reception. After the reception ended, the After Party began with a fabulous DJ and late-night bites for all.
The Retreat
Mary and Rene honeymooned in St. Barths at the Eden Rock resort. They stayed in a villa and enjoyed the beautiful accommodations, Nikki Beach, and an all-day boat excursion to local beaches. They loved exploring the island in a Moke – some of their favorite places included Bonito, Shellona, La Petite Plage, and shopping in Gustavia.
