The Proposal
Molly Bryant and Chip Phillips’ Divine Summer South Carolina Wedding was full of emotions. Molly and Chip’s families are huge football fans of the University of Georgia and Notre Dame, respectively. So, when UGA played Notre Dame in 2019, they thought it would be fun for everyone to meet for the game. When Molly and Chip’s flight to Athens was delayed, Molly sensed Chip getting anxious but thought it was merely travel nerves. When they finally arrived in Athens, Chip announced he’d like to make a stop at the Athens Botanical Gardens. Molly began to have suspicions but chose to keep quiet. As they strolled through the gardens, they stopped under a gazebo, and before Molly knew it, Chip was on one knee asking Molly to be his wife! He had also secretly hired a professional photographer to capture the moment! The weekend continued with lots of celebrations, including a Bulldog win.
In Preparation
Like many couples, Molly and Chip’s original wedding date was impacted by COVID-19. They had been planning for a November 2020 ceremony since September 2019. All of the significant decisions had been selected: the date, venue, band, florals, dress, etc. But when the entire world paused, they felt the need to push back the date. Following that difficult but necessary decision, their event planner, Beth Baldwin, provided reassuring assistance and helped the couple pivot to a summertime celebration.
The Big Day
Chip and Molly married in Old Town Bluffton, at the Church of the Cross. With great excitement in the air, Molly and Chip started the day getting ready with their bridesmaids and groomsmen. Prior to the ceremony, Molly and her father shared a special moment while walking to the church, both in awe of the picturesque location. The bridal couple chose not to do a first look due to an early afternoon ceremony. They also felt it would heighten that moment when the church doors opened. And, as anticipated, as soon as the doors opened, Molly’s heart swelled while Chip lovingly gazed back at her. The couple felt an abundance of love surrounding them while they exchanged their vows. Following the ceremony, guests departed for the Nicklaus Clubhouse at the Colleton River Club for dinner and dancing. A treasured moment for the couple was their first dance to the song “Til I’m 99,” performed by The Celebrity Allstars. Molly and Chip will cherish the memories forever thanks to their amazing photographer, Cushla Beasley, and videographer, Savannah Wedding Films, who captured everything so beautifully.
The Retreat
While Molly and Chip had to put their dream honeymoon to Thailand on hold, the newlyweds took a mini-moon to Charleston, one of their favorite destinations, and stayed for a long weekend at the Mills House. They visited all of the city’s iconic restaurants like Husk, Home Team BBQ on Sullivans, and NICO Oyster Bar. They’re looking forward to planning their “real” honeymoon in Thailand very soon. Molly Bryant and Chip Phillips’ Divine Summer South Carolina Wedding was full of moments that will last a lifetime.
