The Proposal
Kevin told Savannah he was taking her to dinner in Birmingham to celebrate her birthday, but he had a surprise planned instead. In the days leading up to the proposal, he intentionally made a dinner reservation in front of her – only to secretly cancel it later – so nothing seemed out of the ordinary. Kevin planned to propose at a Birmingham overlook that had become one of their favorite date-night spots after he introduced it to her early in their relationship. To ensure perfect timing, he even went on evening runs to the overlook throughout the week, tracking the sunset. When he picked Savannah up that evening, a stop at the overlook felt routine, though this time he suggested they walk. A family friend Savannah had never met discreetly posed as a passerby on the phone, hiding a camera beneath her sweater. As the sun dipped below the horizon, Kevin dropped to one knee and asked Savannah to marry him – many of the details melting into a joyful blur. The newly engaged couple celebrated by FaceTiming their families, who were eagerly awaiting the call, before enjoying a private dinner and bubbly at Vino, the restaurant where they had shared their first date.
In Preparation
As the youngest siblings in their respective families, Kevin and Savannah were surrounded by an abundance of support and thoughtful guidance throughout the planning process. With the bride’s sister having been married just one month earlier, her parents were thrilled to continue celebrating and planning another wedding so soon. Savannah’s sister, Madison Sandlin, played an especially meaningful role, designing the couple’s custom wedding crest along with invitations, signage, and all of the weekend’s paper goods, including vow booklets and menus, bringing a cohesive and deeply personal touch to every detail. With the expertise of Jenny Dansby of Threefold Events and the loving involvement of both families, the couple’s vision for an elegant and intentional celebration came beautifully to life.
The Big Day
Kevin and Savannah’s wedding day was classically romantic with a subtle nod to European style, balanced by modern, fresh elements. A palette of soft blues and creamy whites complemented both their ceremony church and The Florentine, where cocktail hour and the reception followed. The day began with hair and makeup by GLOW, setting a calm and joyful tone. Savannah wore a drop-waist lace ballgown from The White Magnolia in Atlanta, complete with a delicate bow at the natural waist and covered buttons cascading to the end of the train. Kevin wore a timeless black tuxedo for the ceremony and later changed into a white dinner jacket for the reception. The ceremony took place at South Highlands Presbyterian Church, a sacred and meaningful space where their marriage was centered in faith. Kevin’s nieces and nephews served as flower girls and bell ringers, sweetly preceding the bride down the aisle. Following the ceremony, guests were transported by trolley to The Florentine Café for cocktail hour, accompanied by a Sinatra-style serenade from Adam Komesar. Upstairs in The Florentine Ballroom, guests enjoyed a seated dinner surrounded by florals from Birdsong and Bloom, featuring topiaries, tiered urns, and warm white blooms accented with orchids, Savannah’s favorite flower, for an unexpected twist. Thoughtful details abounded, from the cake adorned with the couple’s crest to wine service linens embroidered with their new monogram. Dinner by Corretti Catering included the bride’s cherished family recipe for four-cheese pasta, while dessert featured wedding cake alongside tiramisu and peanut butter pie shooters, the couple’s favorites. The celebration continued late into the night with dancing led by the energetic 8 South Band, a fitting tribute to the couple’s love of live music.

The Retreat
After a private last dance, Kevin and Savannah exited beneath an arch of ribbon wands and were whisked away in a white Rolls-Royce from Dream Drives BHM. They spent six days honeymooning in Old Quebec City and Nova Scotia, where French-inspired architecture made them feel as though they had traveled abroad, and the rocky coastal landscapes offered fresh air, slower days, and breathtaking scenery. The blend of romance and tranquility created the perfect beginning to their life together as husband and wife.
