The Proposal
The day after Christmas, Shannon was told that she and Josh were invited to a wine dinner by his teammate JJ Redick. Josh was scheduled for a team meeting prior to the event, so she would have to meet Josh at the dinner. When Shannon arrived at the Elms Mansion & Gardens in New Orleans, she walked through the kitchen to find Josh. Josh told her they were an hour early, so he suggested they take a short tour of the house before everyone arrived. He then led Shannon outside towards a stunning flower-filled gazebo. With flashing cameras and music playing in the background, Josh got down on one knee and lovingly proposed to Shannon.
In Preparation
Shannon and Josh got engaged six months prior to the wedding, so they had to move quickly. They reached out to three different wedding planners, interviewed them, and ultimately picked Carrie Zack Event, based in Miami. Carrie and her partner Nigel had amazing ideas for the wedding and told Shannon and Josh that they could make all of their visions come true, and they did. They found their venue very quickly, the 1 Hotel South Beach, and spent all summer planning for their perfect day. Shannon and Josh had weekly in-person meetings with Carrie and Nigel, who lived only minutes away, making coordinating meetings and discussing details in person much easier. The best part of wedding planning for them was the food tasting. Here they bonded with family and were happy they got to include the people closest to them for the big day. Carrie and Nigel made the preparation for the wedding seamless.
The Big Day
Shannon was ecstatic about the big day and knew she wanted a to-the-point ceremony and a party-filled reception. Carrie and Nigel were able to perfectly bring this vision to life. Shannon and her bridesmaids woke up at 6 am to get hair and makeup done, and the men woke shortly after to get haircuts. The all-white ceremony was approximately 30 minutes long, while the reception went on all night long. The ceremony was intimate and featured a choir dressed in all-white attire accompanied by an orchestra. The reception featured four food stations of various cuisines, a dessert wall, and a well-stocked bar. Shannon also wanted to incorporate her roots with a performance by Caribbean dancers. Shannon and Josh loved that Nigel and Carrie were there throughout the wedding and reception to make sure everything ran smoothly! The newlyweds danced the night away with their family and friends and had the most unforgettable night of their lives.
The Retreat
The honeymoon was beautiful. Josh and Shannon went to three different countries. They started in Mykonos, where they enjoyed lounging on daybeds at beautiful beach clubs. Next, they took in the sights of Positano. Shannon and Josh had a boat day where they visited Capri, saw the blue grotto, and swam in the green grotto. Lastly, they visited London, where they were able to go to a Chelsea match (Josh’s favorite football club) with Shannon’s brother and his girlfriend Emma, who live in Stockholm, Sweden. The first adventure as husband and wife was full of joy, love, and laughter.
