The Proposal
Treylon’s proposal on New Year’s Eve was nothing short of magical. Surrounded by friends at a lake house on Greers Ferry Lake, the couple watched the ball drop before Treylon dropped to one knee and asked Shelby to spend forever with him. With joyful tears and overwhelming excitement, they welcomed the new year surrounded by loved ones, extending the celebration by inviting family over the following day.
In Preparation
The couple wanted simple, modern elegance. A Perfect Bloom Florist came in and created a monochromatic, yet lush design using an abundance of white roses and baby’s breath. The avant garde cake by Kakes by Kenzie was adorned with fault lines, gold flakes, and pearls – the cake stood as an elegant centerpiece that satisfied not only the eye but also the palate. The couple’s vision all came together with the expert planning by Holly Dickerson and captured by timeless wedding-style photographer, Mallory Luster Photography.
The Big Day
Shelby and Treylon’s love story began at the University of Arkansas, where they crossed paths through mutual friends. After a memorable New Year’s Eve proposal at a lake house on Greers Ferry Lake, the couple embarked on planning their dream wedding in North Little Rock, Arkansas. With a vision of simplistic modern elegance, they brought together a talented vendor team to create a day filled with love, beauty, and cherished memories. A profusion of delicate white blooms added a touch of romance and ethereal beauty to the ceremony and reception spaces, reflecting Shelby and Treylon’s vision for their special day. Notably, the Groom’s tuxedo was almost left behind at the hotel, creating some last-minute panic. Luckily, a friend rushed to retrieve it just in time. Additionally, a picture frame on the front row, meant as a tribute to Shelby’s late mother, fell over just as the doors opened for her grand entrance.
The couple treated their guests to a delectable meal. The highlight was blackened chicken breast with Cajun cream sauce served over buttery mashed potatoes and roasted broccolini. This mouthwatering dish delighted everyone’s taste buds and added a touch of Southern charm to the reception. The wedding cake itself was a work of art. With three tiers, the bottom and top featured classic wedding cake flavor with vanilla buttercream, while the middle tier boasted a delightful combination of vanilla with strawberry cream cheese filling.
The Retreat
After saying “I do,” the couple jetted off to Sugar Beach in St. Lucia for an idyllic honeymoon. They reveled in the resort’s breathtaking views of the pitons, relaxing amidst tropical splendor. Exploring Soufriere, they visited botanical gardens, a drive-in volcano, and even dined at Hotel Chocolate, where cacao infused every dish, adding a unique and delightful twist to their culinary experience.
