The Proposal
On April 28th 2022, Summer came home from work to find a room full of rose petals, candlelight, and Alex standing there dressed in a suit! Summer was in total disbelief, and couldn’t control her excitement! This was the moment she had been waiting for! Alex grabbed her hand and got down on one knee, and asked Summer to spend forever with him! It was a moment Summer said she will forever cherish — “it was thoughtful, intimate, and perfect for us!”
In Preparation
Summer and Alex’s families are located all across the country, so when the couple started the planning process, they wanted to choose a venue that would be convenient for their guests and allow their wedding party and immediate family to stay on site. When they saw the Duke Mansion it checked off all the boxes; it is elegant and timeless, modern with the black and white tile floor, romantic with history and in close proximity to uptown Charlotte and airport. It’s called the Queen City for a reason.
The Big Day
Since NYC is where the couple met and fell in love, it was important for Summer and Alex to incorporate elements from NYC into their wedding. One of the most iconic things about NYC are the yellow cabs, so they decided to use the iconic vehicle as part of their escort wall.
The Retreat
There was no question that Summer and Alex wanted to begin their marriage in Europe, exploring some of the most romantic and iconic destinations. The couple started off their honeymoon in the city of love, Paris, France where they explored different arrondissements and indulged in the Parisian culture and cuisine. Following their final nights dinner overlooking the Eiffel Tower, they traveled to San Gimignano, Italy where they fell in love with the wine, food, and the people of the Tuscan countryside. The newlyweds continued to explore the wonders of Italy in Rome where they toured some of the most historic landmarks. Next, they made their way down to the Amalfi Coast, stopping in Sorrento where they dined under the lemon trees and visited Capri. Summer and Alex ended their incredible and once in a lifetime honeymoon in Positano, sailing around the coast and soaking in the Italian sun.
