Cheers to National Tequila Day! This popular distilled beverage made from the blue agave plant found primarily in the area surrounding Tequila, Mexico is always a fun go-to liquor for celebrating. With so many options to shake and stir, we asked Steve Turk, the Director of Food & Beverage at the 4-star Loews Miami Beach Hotel, to share a couple of wicked good recipes. Check out his tasty recommendations below for tossing some Tequila into your wedding weekend.
The Aperol Paloma
“A fantastic combination of two of the most popular and refreshing summer drinks, The Aperol Spritz and The Paloma. This drink will surely delight guests as a surprising and refreshing welcome cocktail. Great for outdoor cocktail hours and the perfect drink to get guests in the mood to celebrate. It looks amazing in a glass and the recipe is very DIY so you can even make it at home”.
Ingredients:
- 1 ounce Aperol
- 1 1/2 ounces 100% agave silver tequila
- 2 ounces freshly-squeezed ruby red grapefruit juice
- 3/4 ounce Cointreau
- 1/2 ounce freshly squeezed lime juice
- Orange slice for garnish
How-To:
Combine the Aperol, tequila, grapefruit juice, Cointreau and lime juice in a cocktail shaker. Fill halfway with ice and shake. Strain the cocktail into an ice-filled rocks glass or a champagne coupe, garnish with a thin cut orange slice and serve.
The 24 Karat Rita
An opulent twist on the traditional margarita – made with Roca Patron Silver and served over crushed ice with an edible 24K gold leaf & lime zest coated rim and a 24K leaf coated slice of lime.
“The epitome of luxury in a glass, the 24 Karat Rita puts a glamorous twist on the traditional cocktail using decadent edible gold to make guests feel like royalty with each sip. This cocktail is a great way to celebrate tequila and toast to the happy couple.”
