At Southern Bride, we see weddings as little bits of iconography; highly individual, much like a fingerprint. Each wedding reflects a couple’s personality, their values, and the things that make them happy. This year we’ve seen so much personality in wedding trends, including cultural traditions. From henna to jumping the broom, cultural rites of passage speak volumes without actually saying a word. We’ve compiled some of our favorite images from a real southern bride’s TWO(!) weddings, and we thought we’d look at some of the distinctive features of both her traditional Gujarati ceremony, as well as her traditional American ceremony for inspiration on how to add a little culture to your own wedding.
Lulu’s wedding dress was sweet but modern, thanks to a blend of pattern and a pastel sash. It also looks amazing with the henna from her traditional Indian wedding.
What’s a gorgeous dress and veil without a Mega-Watt smile? Happiness is universal.
Serious arm party happening here, and we love every bangle!
Obsessed with the details. That statement necklace is divine.
We love the reassuring floral pieces from this image: everything from the boutonniere to the cake, no aspect was left untouched.
Pure joy.
You can’t go wrong with sparklers and a gorgeous bow.
