Almost every woman can describe her dream dress down to the subtle tufting on the sides, the intricate beading on the bodice, and the flowing train that needs constant bridesmaid attention. Along with the dress, the bride dreams of her hair and makeup – a gorgeous up-do that makes her look like a celebrity. But there’s one equally important item that might slip her mind. What is it? The bouquet. An amazing arrangement that can temporarily adorn her gown with texture, color, and pattern. A bouquet can add personality, color, fun, and life to make the wedding tradition a little more YOU. So how do you find the bouquet that screams “made for me”? Read on for a few tricks of the wedding floral trade.
Think about the colors of your wedding. You want your bouquet to be cohesive with the rest of your wedding. If your bridesmaids are wearing tangerine, consider throwing a few orange blossoms in your bouquet for a touch of consistency. On the contrary, opt for a monochrome arrangement to play up your clothing and surroundings. And all white arrangement to play with textures and let the foliage shine through. Sometimes there’s nothing prettier than a bouquet where the leaves take center stage.
Think seasonally. We say this a lot, but that’s because it’s true. Peonies may be beautiful and luxurious and airy and aromatic, but if they’re out of season, their price may keep them from smelling so sweet.
Consider your dress. That burlap- wrapped blue hydrangea arrangement you’ve always dreamed of may not work with the super modern dress that you’ve picked out. Know which flowers scream “farmhouse-chic” and which scream “wedding at the MOMA.” Similarly, choose the size of your bouquet to match your gown. A full figured ball gown will dwarf a tiny arrangement, while an oversized, cascading bouquet can hide the hourglass shaped created by you’re mermaid gown.
