The most romantic getaway on Florida’s Gold Coast isn’t the biggest or the boldest. It’s the one who remembered every detail.

Some hotels make an impression. White Elephant Palm Beach makes you exhale. Tucked one block from the Intracoastal and less than two from the Atlantic, this 32-room boutique property on historic Royal Poinciana Way is the rare kind of place that feels both polished and deeply personal. This landmark hotel behaves more like the most stylish home you’ve ever been invited into. For couples looking to slip away from the noise of everyday life, there may not be a more considered address on Florida’s Gold Coast.

A Hotel That Dares to Be Different
The first surprise at White Elephant Palm Beach is the look of the place, and it is a genuine surprise. Palm Beach has a language: bright pinks, bold greens, Lilly Pulitzer energy, and maximalism as a way of life. This hotel simply declines to speak it. Boston-based design firm Elkus Manfredi stripped the 1924 Mediterranean Revival landmark to its bones and rebuilt it around something quieter, more confident, and arguably more chic. The palette is all soft neutrals : creams, warm whites, gentle taupes, layered with hardwood floors, woven rugs, exquisite hand-painted tiles, and sleek metal accents that catch the Florida light without demanding attention. The effect is calming in the way that only truly considered spaces can be. You don’t notice everything at once. You notice more each time you look.

The Art is the Story
What elevates White Elephant from stylish to genuinely extraordinary is the art — 120 original works curated specifically for this property, displayed throughout the lobby, common areas, guest rooms, and even the bathrooms. This is not hotel art. This is a serious collection: Rauschenberg, Jennifer Bartlett, Kenzo Okada, and Donald Baechler. Tel Aviv artist Orit Fuchs was commissioned to create a bold pop-art focal point for the lobby, a piece titled The Lady of the House, that stops guests in their tracks. The lobby library anchors itself on a custom hand-tufted rug inspired by the damask patterns found in Addison Mizner’s original Palm Beach interiors, a quiet nod to the island’s golden age. Coral-like chandeliers by Palecek cascade overhead, catching light like something found at the bottom of the sea.
In the guest rooms, 30 exclusive drawings by teenage British phenom Doodle Boy bring an unexpected playfulness to spaces that might otherwise lean too serious and every single one hides a tiny elephant somewhere in the composition. Finding it becomes a small, delightful ritual.

The Details That Make You Fall in Love
Bronze elephant door knockers. Embroidered pachyderms on fine Italian Pratesi linens. Upholstered headboards in a painterly palm and flower print, the same fabric echoed on desk chair backs and throw pillow piping. Console tables wrapped inside and out with authentic William Morris “Strawberry Thief” fabric — a pattern originally designed in 1883 — tucked alongside thoroughly modern pieces that have no business looking this good together, and yet somehow do. Rattan ceiling fixtures that feel like they were salvaged from a particularly chic 1970s estate. Black-and-white striped side tables. Marble bathrooms with double stone sinks, glass-enclosed walk-in showers, and L’Occitane amenities lined up like a small, fragrant promise. A Nespresso machine. A stocked refrigerator. Hardcover books chosen with actual intention.
Every room has a terrace or balcony. Every room has a view worth lingering over. And at the entrance to the hotel, a seven-foot white elephant sculpture by Santa Fe artist Fredrick Prescott stands in welcome, one of the first things you see, and somehow, the thing that sets the entire tone.

The BMW, the Beach, and Lola 41
The White Elephant style extends well beyond the interiors. Through an exclusive BMW partnership, a luxury courtesy car is available to whisk guests to Worth Avenue, Bradley Park, or along A1A at golden hour or sign out the keys yourself and explore the island on your own terms. Either way, you arrive in exactly the right car for the island.
Dinner at Lola 41, the property’s signature restaurant born in Nantucket and brought gloriously south, is its own event. Globally inspired cuisine: spicy Hokkaido scallop rolls, grilled octopus with mint gremolata, hangar steak finished with piquillo chimichurri, served in a setting that’s lively without ever being loud. As the evening deepens, the courtyard hums and the energy shifts naturally from an intimate dinner to something more festive. A golf cart escort the next morning delivers you to the Atlantic shore, where complimentary chairs, towels, umbrellas, and a packed cooler are already waiting.

Why It All Adds Up
The secret of White Elephant Palm Beach isn’t any single moment. It’s the accumulation – the art you keep discovering, the William Morris fabric you almost missed, the Doodle Boy elephant you finally found on the second morning, the server at Lola 41 who remembered how you take your wine. Every detail was chosen by someone who cared, and you feel that care the entire time you’re there.
For a couple looking to step into something genuinely beautiful, White Elephant Palm Beach doesn’t just deliver a getaway. It delivers the rarest thing travel can offer, the feeling that for a few days, everything was exactly, exquisitely right.
