The Styled Challenge is a wedding design competition showcasing the works of talented wedding professionals from local areas. Each designer is tasked with creating an exceptional wedding ceremony and reception arrangement at the provided venue. Our viewers on Southern Bride Instagram and Facebook channels vote on the best design. The Ireland competition includes the top 3 local wedding planners and three exceptional venues: The Shelbourne, Dromoland Castle, and Cashel Palace.

Nestled in the heart of Dublin, Ireland, overlooking St. Stephen’s Green, The Shelbourne is a luxury hotel that exudes historic charm and timeless sophistication. Blending its storied past with modern elegance, the hotel retains its iconic drawing rooms while offering beautifully updated suites, six acclaimed restaurants and bars, and a tranquil wellness spa. For weddings, The Constitution Room offers an intimate and refined setting—complete with rich oak floors, a grand fireplace, and distinctive green carpeting—perfect for hosting a romantic reception around one long, elegantly appointed table.

The design inspiration for the wedding at The Shelbourne Hotel in Dublin blends the timeless elegance of Irish history with a modern sense of opulence. The Shelbourne, a landmark rich in Irish heritage, serves as the perfect backdrop for a celebration that honors both tradition and contemporary style. Nestled in the heart of vibrant Dublin, the hotel’s grandeur mirrors the wedding’s luxurious yet modern design.
Emerald green, a color synonymous with Ireland’s lush landscapes, is woven throughout the décor, bringing depth and richness to the space. Vintage glassware and plates are paired with sleek, modern glasses, creating a harmonious fusion of old-world charm and modern sophistication. Gold accents elevate the opulent feel, catching the light and adding a touch of glamour to every corner. Florals are abundant, with greenery, moss, and grass reflecting the natural beauty of Ireland, bringing the outdoors in and creating a lush, earthy ambiance.

The minimalist stationery, featuring clean lines and subtle embossing with gold foiling, complements the design’s modern edge while remaining understated and elegant. Signage is mounted on sleek white plinths, adding structure and a contemporary feel to the décor. At the heart of the reception, the cake—a decadent Guinness chocolate creation with Baileys frosting—invites guests to indulge immediately. Its dripping design is both eye-catching and irresistibly delicious, a sweet nod to Irish flavors.
This thoughtful blend of rich textures, luxurious fabrics, and nature-inspired elements creates a wedding design that is both timeless and refreshingly modern, perfectly suited to The Shelbourne’s storied elegance.
